Abstract
Anguilla bicolor is a type of fish with a high selling value and nutritional content.  The problem experienced in cultivating eels is the slow growth of eels. One effort that can be made to overcome this problem is to use alternative feed such as trash fish and chicken intestines.  This research aimed to determine the effect of feed type on the growth performance and nutritional value of eel (A. bicolor) in the recirculation system. Moreover,  to determine the type of feed that can provide the best growth performance and nutritional value for eels (A. bicolor) elver in a recirculation system. The research was carried out from December 2023 to January 2024 at the Fish Quarantine Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro. The test fish in this study was the eel (A. Bicolor) at the elver stage with an average weight of 41 ± 4.76g/ head. The test eels are maintained using a recirculation system. The stocking density of test fish was six fish/aquariums with a volume of 40 liters. The research container is an aquarium measuring 60×50×40cm. The method used in this research was an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments with three repetitions, namely treatment A (artificial feed), treatment B (trash fish feed), and treatment C (chicken intestine feed). The variables measured include total feed consumption (TKP), feed conversion ratio (FCR), feed utilization efficiency (EPP), relative growth rate (RGR), survival rate (SR) and water quality. The results of the study showed that providing this type of feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the growth performance of eels but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the nutritional value of eels. The artificial feed treatment and trash fish feed provided better growth performance than chicken intestine feed.
