Morphological and Molecular Genetic Analysis of Tr. Elegans and Tr. dorsalis of the Genus Triplophysa in the Chirchik River Basin (Uzbekistan)

Abstract
This article presents the results of morphological and molecular genetic studies of representatives of the genus Triplophysa Rendahl, 1933, collected from the Chirchik River basin (the foothills of the Chirchik River and the lower part of the Pskem River). The material used was 10 specimens of Tr. elegans with a length of 54- 72mm (average 61.7) and 32 specimens of Tr. dorsalis 38- 84mm long (average 51.6).  For Tr. elegans, the dorsal fin had III (IV) 7-8 rays, the anal fin had III-5 rays, the ventral fin had II 7-8 rays, the pectoral fin had I 11-12 rays, the caudal fin had 30-32 rays, and the number of holes on the lateral line ranged from 85 to 88, with an average of 86.7. For Tr. dorsalis, the dorsal fin had III (IV) 7 (8) rays, the anal fin had III (IV) 5 rays, the ventral fin had I-II 7-8 rays, the pectoral fin had I 9-10 rays, the caudal fin had 32-35 rays, and the number of holes on the lateral line ranged from 73 to 80, with an average of 75.6. Differences in body color and spot shape are shown. According to the results of a molecular genetic study, the nucleotide sequence of 653 base pairs of the coi region of the mtDNA of Tr species was isolated. Tr. elegans and Tr. dorsalis are from the genus Triplophysa. A comparative analysis of the nucleotide sequences of the selected species with Tr samples was carried out. Tr elegans (M W649599) and Tr. dorsalis (NC029423) were existing in the National Center for Bioinformatics Information (NCBI) Genebank. Between the nucleotide sequences of Tr. elegans and Tr. dorsalis, 38 differences were identified. This indicator confirms that both outputs are separate valid views.
