Abstract

Arthrospira platensis is a filamentous cyanobacterium known for its rich composition, which offers antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and therapeutic properties provided by C-phycocyanin. This study aims to optimize C-phycocyanin production by testing the effects of pH, temperature, color and light intensity on both biomass growth and pigment yield. Spirulina was cultured under controlled conditions using Hiri medium. Growth was monitored by measuring optical density, and C-phycocyanin was extracted from the dried biomass using an aqueous extraction method. Regression analysis indicates that light intensity and temperature significantly influence growth and pigment concentration; the optimal conditions were identified at 35°C, pH 10, 10,000 lux, and white light. These results contribute to boosting C-phycocyanin yields for application in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries.
