Abstract
The rapid expansion of the commercial beverage industry has transformed beverage spaces into multifunctional environments where consumers seek both sensory and social experiences. This study explores design strategies for sustainable aquatic beverage environments from the perspective of social distance theory, aiming to optimize spatial comfort, sociability, and ecological harmony. Using the HTI DP series stores as experimental cases, this research applied a mixed-method approach combining on-site observation, spatial mapping, and behavioral analysis to examine how spatial distance and environmental configuration influence comfort and interaction. Results reveal that layouts maintaining an average seating distance of 1.2–1.5 meters effectively balance privacy and sociability, consistent with Hall’s “social distance” range. Furthermore, spatial zoning of ordering, waiting, and leisure areas enhances environmental efficiency and perceived order, while the integration of natural materials and water-inspired design elements improves user comfort and sustainability. The study concludes by proposing adaptable spatial design guidelines for aquatic and environmental facilities that integrate proxemic and ecological principles into sustainable spatial planning, offering valuable insights for post-pandemic design emphasizing health, green economy, and environmental well-being.
