Abstract

This study introduces a novel, highly sensitive method for detecting Lornoxicam (LORN) based on its complexation with terbium (Tb) ions. The Tb-LORN complex exhibits unique photoluminescent properties, where energy absorbed by LORN at 270nm is transferred to Tb³⁺, resulting in a characteristic emission at 545nm. This specific energy transfer enables the selective quantification of LORN over a wide linear range (5 × 10⁻⁹ to 5 × 10⁻⁵ mol/L). The method was successfully applied to determine LORN concentrations in pharmaceutical formulations and environmental samples, specifically industrial wastewater from the Nile River region, demonstrating its practical utility for quality control and environmental monitoring.
