Abstract
The distribution of tropical eels, particularly Anguilla marmorata, is commonly observed in the waters of Sulawesi. However, information regarding the size composition of its life stages in Southeast Sulawesi remains limited. A total of 121 A. marmorata specimens were collected from four locations: Wanggu, Sampara, Awulamoni, and Umalaoge. Sampling was conducted both through active fishing and by utilizing catches obtained from local fishermen. The representative samples collected from each life stage in each location were as follows: Wanggu (3 yellow-stage specimens and 3 silver-stage specimens), Sampara (4 yellow-stage specimens), Awulamoni (1 silver-stage specimen), and Umalaoge (101 yellow-stage specimens and 3 silver-stage specimens). Morphometric data provide valuable insights into the growth and development of A. marmorata across its life stages. The findings indicate that growth patterns vary considerably between life stages and among sampling locations.
