Abstract
The present study investigated the effects of graded concentrations of a commercial probiotic (PROBIO FISH) on blood parameters and non-specific immunity in common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Fish were fed diets supplemented with 0, 1, 2, and 2.5% commercial probiotic for a period of 56 days. A total of 120 fingerlings, with an initial mean weight of 16.75 ± 0.07g, were randomly distributed among four treatments and cultured in a closed recirculating system. Results indicated that probiotic supplementation significantly improved blood parameters and non-specific immune responses, as evidenced by increased levels of globulin, albumin, total protein, nitroblue tetrazolium, myeloperoxidase activity, serum lysozyme activity, and phagocytic activity compared with the control group. Among treatments, T2 showed significantly higher values than all other experimental groups (P≤ 0.05), while T1 and T3 did not differ significantly (P≤ 0.05) from the control. These findings suggest that dietary supplementation with the commercial probiotic PROBIO FISH can enhance immune function in common carp, supporting its potential as a functional ingredient in aquafeed formulations.
