Abstract
The influence of different concentrations of cadmium on Corbicula fluminalis was examined by a toxicity experiment. Acute toxicity was analyzed by measurement of the 96h. LC50 and daily survival rates. Results indicated that the mortality rate of Corbicula fluminalis was proportional to the concentration of cadmium. LC50 after 96 h. exposure was 0.52 mg/l . The bioaccumulation value of the pollutant in the clam’s soft parts were higher than the corresponding values in the shell after 96 h. exposure. The bioaccumulation of cadmium in the organism increased by increasing the concentration of cadmium in solution from 119 mg/kg in 0.02 mg/l to 168 mg/kg in soft tissue in 8 mg/l . The increase of cadmium in the organism was not steady, but it took the form of sudden increase after increasing the concentration of cadmium in solution to 8 mg/l.
